Neal grew up in Hunan Province of China. He lived in Shenzhen, a city near to Hong Kong, for four years (2012-2016) when he entered college. He graduated from Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in June 2016 with a B.S. in Chemistry. He is now a Ph. D. student at University of Connecticut (UConn) on the organic track.

He likes playing volleyball and badminton in his free time, he also loves travel and reading which can bring him a lot of thoughts.
